Multifaceted
The placement of artwork by Sigrid Burton, Stephen Douglas, Mary Addison Hackett, Gegam Kacherian, Kaye Freeman, Noel Korten, Erika Lizée, Farzad Kohan, Wendy Adest, Garo Antreasian, Fatemeh Burnes and Jennifer Gunlock together in the very wonderfully inviting spaces of the Tufenkian Fine Art Gallery is meant to be an homage to their very bandwidth. All of the artists in this exhibition firmly believe in the credo that has given light to their vision of the art world and art making. None of them has had to renounce the long and arduous gestation that has led to their current formulation of what art is. What they have done however is to trust that Caroline and I would place them together with others who we believe share in the same commitment and dedication even without using the same stylistic or formal means to communicate those essential beliefs. It is an experiment in pluralism which celebrates the manifold dimensions of a world of which we are a part even if on different banks of different shores.
