The work is derived from the characteristic marks used in cursive writing and accompanied by images of an oak branch sourced from photographs of tree boughs taken over time at Descanso Gardens. The work is dedicated by O’Brien to Steve and Sari Roden for the many years of performance work created in collaboration with the artist Toti O’Brien, often based on letterforms.
