John David O’Brien is a contemporary curator, artist, and writer whose work explores how art can serve as a form of physical philosophy. He has curated exhibitions in both traditional and unconventional spaces—from museums and galleries to airports and parks—collaborating with artists to create cross-cultural, genre-defying visual experiences.

As a contemporary curator and arts writer, he states “I have been working on ways to structure modes of rethinking how contemporary art can be presented in display and on how it can also be understood as a form of physical philosophy. I have created exchanges of artists and artworks and have collated these exchanges for presentation and installation in institutions elsewhere. My method has primarily consisted in curating contemporary art exhibitions within non-traditional institutional settings such as archeological museums, airports, parks and libraries. I have also been generating writing (including essays, reviews and overviews of contemporary art) with the intention of demonstrating why contemporary artworks should be also considered as a form of extended thinking.” For more curatorial projects, please visit my archive here.
