Pavilions

2009 (with Cielo Pessione)

This temporary, site-responsive public art installation was part of the New Town “On the Trail of......” exhibition at the Hahamongna Watershed Park in Pasadena, CA. For our project, we fabricated and installed three Pavilions: Dawn, Midday and Dusk. All three pavilions were conceived as both independant free-standing sculptures and architectural models for larger scale public art works.

Pavilions (Dawn)

40" x 24" x 18"
Steel (etched & welded) and fabric

"When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive - to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love."

~ Marcus Aurelius

Pavilions (Midday)

40" x 24" x 18"
Steel (etched & welded) and fabric

"Spend the afternoon.  You can't take it with you."

~ Annie Dillard

Pavilions (Dusk)

40" x 24" x 18"
Steel (etched & welded) and fabric

"The flowers that keep
Their odor to themselves all day;
But when the sunlight dies away,
Let the delicious secret out
To every breeze that roams about."
