Although MAAM defines itself as a museum, it escapes defined categories. In via Prenestina 913, the practices and logic of the museum are reversed: the artworks coexist with the housing needs of the residents and are acquired through donations from established and emerging artists. By decentralizing the focus on the outskirts of the capital Rome, the work of art comes out of the display case and its isolation to put itself at the service of a community, to make an abandoned factory usable and welcoming.
